Reiki is a Japanese technique created by Dr Mikao Usui as a system of natural healing. It is useful for reducing stress. It is a form of relaxation that promotes healing, usually by means of touch. Reiki is believed to help activate the natural healing processes of the recipient’s body and aims to restore their physical and emotional wellbeing.
It is suggested that your life force energy and how it flows through the body could affect your health, therefore, if your energy is low you may feel sick or stressed or when it is high you are capable of feeling healthy and happy.
The term “Reiki” is made up of two words: Rei means higher power or God’s wisdom (depending on your beliefs) and Ki means life force energy. So the term means “spiritually-guided life force energy”. Some believe Reiki is spiritual in nature, but Reiki is not a religious act so you do not have to believe in Reiki for it work.
A Reiki treatment is a wonderfully relaxing process that treats the whole person including their emotions, mind, body and spirit resulting in feelings of relaxation, peace and well being. This is a simple, natural and safe treatment. Throughout the session you remain fully clothed, although you may be asked to remove restrictive items such as a scarf or shoes, as well as watches and jewellery.
Reiki may relieve stress and is often used alongside other medical and therapeutic techniques where clients feel it helps them towards a healthy recovery.
